Scared of rising early??So you have been trying hard for months to get up early I the morning…..But it’s not that easy???? Leaving the warmth, you would not like to hover around in the relatively cold environment outside. Especially when there is no obligation for you to wake up that early. It’s all ok to wake up exact on time, rush to get ready, have breakfast and leave for the office hurriedly. Then you finish off your day and come home, have food, kill your time till you get sleep and again set yourself off for the next day. Most of us follow almost the same routine in our daily lives. We never seem to compromise on our morning sleep, although most of us are ware that waking up early in the morning is of the healthiest habit.
Until and unless you are very much firm, you would not be able to inculcate this habit at all. So far, this has been the biggest challenge for me as I am not very much of an early riser. But I realized its importance when one day, I accidentally woke up early in the morning and realized that just waking up 2 hours early saved my day so much…I was able to do much in a day and feel content. From that day onward, I decided to develop this habit and fall into the Early Riser category.
It wasn’t easy at all. I tried and failed so many times, read good books, read article on this subject, again tried and tried till I succeeded. So here I would like to give some useful tips on waking up early in the morning. I have applied most of them and it works. The only thing is that you have to make sure which one suits you the best.
So here are the tips:
Sleep Early for Rising Early:
To have a healthy sleep you do need to have a sufficient hours of sleep. This figure is usually between 6-8 hours which varies from person to person. So, if you think that you could get up all early by waking up late till midnight, you are all wrong??? You need to give your body the time it needs for relaxation. So, if you are thinking of waking up at 5.00 a.m in the morning, be sure you wrap yourself up by 10.00 p.m , the previous day. The earlier you sleep, the more early you awake.
So does this all happen in a span of 2-3 days? Not at all, you are all mistaken. This is not a project that has to be completed in the shortest time possible. It is habit which would take time to develop and once developed you will enjoy its good consequence all throughout your life.
Be slow and steady in developing your habit:
Do not rush yourself to be an early riser the very next day. Give time to yourself in developing the habit. Set small goals, like waking up 30 minutes to 1 hour earlier. Start you day early and try to finish all your work. Analyze in the evening or when you are off for the day, ask yourself theses questions
Whether those early waking hours benefitted you?
Were you more organized on the day?
Have you been able to finish off your work early and spend the evening with your family?
Were you feeling good and more productive than the other day?
If any of these questions is a yes, then you should undoubtely wake up early. If none of the questions gives you a positive answer, then it is better than you carry on with the schedule because you are still not ready to take up this habit.
Do it Quick:
By this very phrase I mean to emphasize that if you get up as soon as your alarm starts ringing, you are good to go. You have the chance of developing the habit. But if:
Your mind starts speaking as soon as it’s time to get up.
You get up and continue your work in your dreams!!!!!!!! (this was the most obvious one for me)
You keep the alarm in the snooze mode to wake up later
You wander how much difference would it make if I wake up 5 minutes later
Then you have to work much harder to develop it!!!!
But suppose even if you wake up and you wander here and there, then all your efforts are in vain. Always remember, you should wake up as soon as the alarm starts ringing and freshen up as soon as you wake up. The motive is to feel fresh and utilize the morning hours to do your most important tasks and finish up early. However, if you are dozing off throughout the day and are not able to benefit from it, then it’s pretty waste of a thing. It’s alright to feel drowsy for the first few days, but if this continues drop the idea then and there.
Organize your morning:
Imagine if you get up early in the morning and find that your room is all cluttered and there is this huge pile of pending work that you did not complete yesterday……How would you feel…….????
You would feel like going off to sleep all over again (so would I)…..
But imagine that you get up this fine morning, your room is all organized and you have all the things organized to head start your day……how would you feel this time….???
You would great and good enough to start working on your important tasks.
This is the concept of “Organize your morning”. All you do is spare yourself an extra half an hour in the evening to organize yourself for the morning. You de-clutter your room/house, plan for the next day and organize it accordingly. You will see that you are able to enjoy your morning, complete all your tasks thus utilizing it to its best.
Write Your To do list for Each day:
It would feel like yet another task but trust me it has worked wonders for all those you have followed this. I do agree that you would prefer to keep things in your mind rather than spend time on writing. But the mind may miss out few things sometimes. Writing your To Do List helps you to list all the work that you have to accomplish for the next day. You may write tasks according to its importance. Then later on you can analyze if you were able to accomplish all that you have thought. In this way you can keep track on how you are progressing with each task.
These are just a few comprehensive lists that should be taken care of. As and when you are developing a habit, you come up with something new and useful which would take you one step forward. Stick to them as much as you can.
