Olaplex treatment- what is it and how does it work

June 12, 2017

You must’ve heard a lot about Olaplex Treatment, and its magical results, and whatnot. But that’s got you thinking- Is it genuine, or just a marketing gimmick? Let me answer that. It is 100% genuine, and definitely not a hoax. Olaplex prides itself in producing great results, every single time. And maybe that’s why, hair stylists and celebrities all over are recommending it.Here’s how Olaplex Treatment works-

What is Olaplex?

Olaplex is often confused with a conditioning treatment. It’s not. Conditioners are often synonymous with the term ‘hydration’. And are mostly used to tame the fizz, or moisturize the hair. But, none of this stuff works on the hair internally. Olaplex acts on a molecular level on hair. It permanently rebuilds the broken disulphide bonds in the hair, which is caused by thermal, chemical or mechanical processes.

How does it work?

Olaplex is a three step process. The first two steps which have to be done in a salon. Here’s how they work-

Step 1– Olaplex No.1 Bond Multiplier

This concentrated first salon step rebuilds broken disulfide bonds and begins the process of preventing damage and repairing hair. It is mixed with lightener, or color ,or any chemical treatment, according to the mixing chart given, and then applied to the hair.

Step 2– Olaplex No.2 Bond Perfector

The second salon step continues to rebuild and restore any remaining broken bonds ensuring the strongest, shiniest, and healthiest hair possible. It is applied after shampooing the lightener, or rinsing color from hair

Step 3– Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector

The final retail step that provides continuous protection from ongoing damage at home. It can be used once a week to strengthen hair

Though it says in the package that the first two steps should be done at home, you can do them by yourself. If you are brave enough, or if you can afford to buy the whole kit. That being said, you can buy travel sized kits online, if the salon near you is not providing an Olaplex Treatment. And there are tons of videos on youtube, that you can take guidance from.

Or just use Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector. It works just as fine without the salon treatments, and gives great results.

Let us know in the comments if you’ve had these treatments done, and how it worked for you. xo
